When designing this home we approached it with a reversed value engineering process. We started with the budget and every element was chosen based on meeting that budget. Some materials, and elements took a higher percentage of the budget, however while designing this home, the budget line items were looked at consistently to keep them on track. This method of designing does take much more time to achieve a excellent standard. In every case the materials were added into the spread sheet to determine if they worked with the budget.
The design was driven by the cost of materials to meet the budget.
Value Engineering can be defined as an organized approach to providing the necessary functions at the lowest cost.
Value Engineering can be defined as an organized approach to the identification and elimination of unnecessary costs. Unnecessary cost is Cost which provides neither use, nor life, nor quality, nor appearance, nor customer features.
